About JH Mentoring

At JH Mentoring, we believe good support should feel personal, practical and genuinely meaningful.

We support people in the home, in the community, in social settings and through short term respite. For some participants, this means building independence, confidence and skills. For others, it means having consistent support with daily life, routines, companionship or community access.

Our approach is relationship-based, but it is also backed by clear planning, communication and team oversight.

Our Mission

Well, it's simple!

...to offer support that feels personal, empowering, and real.

At JH Mentoring, our mission is to provide practical, high-quality disability support that helps participants

feel supported, connected and confident in daily life and in the community.

We provide support that may include daily living assistance, community access, in-home support, personal care, mentoring, social programs, short term respite and goal-focused experiences.

We focus on building genuine relationships, understanding each person properly, and creating support that is safe, meaningful and suited to the individual.

Our Vision

Our vision is to help people with disability live meaningful, connected and fulfilling lives, supported by

mentors and support workers who genuinely care.

We envision a future where every person feels seen, heard and supported to live life in a way that reflects

their goals, preferences, interests and needs.

At the heart of this vision is our team. We are intentional about building a skilled, values-aligned team who

share JH Mentoring’s long-term commitment to high-quality support. By matching staff strengths, interests

and skills with participant goals and support needs, we aim to create opportunities for connection, independence, confidence and meaningful life experiences.

Our Heart

JH Mentoring is here to help people build confidence, grow their independence and feel truly connected.

Whether that means learning a new skill, getting out into the community, attending a social activity, building routines at home, working toward employment, or simply having a great day doing something meaningful, our role is to walk alongside each person in a way that suits them.

We are not just focused on filling shifts. We take the time to understand each participant’s goals, needs,

preferences, personality and support requirements so we can build support that feels personal, respectful

and well matched.

Behind it all is a team that genuinely cares and brings heart, purpose and practical skill to the work we do.

Meet Josh Hawkins

Founder and Director of JH Mentoring

Josh Hawkins is the Founder and Director of JH Mentoring, an Adelaide-based registered NDIS provider

supporting people through practical daily support, community access, mentoring, social programs, short

term respite and capacity-building experiences.

Josh began working in the NDIS sector in 2019, starting in direct support roles across mentoring, life skills,

community access, social groups, overnight respite, employment support, budgeting, routines and

participant goal planning. This hands-on experience continues to shape the way JH Mentoring operates

today.

Since founding JH Mentoring, Josh has grown the organisation from the ground up into a team-based

provider supporting more than 70 participants across South Australia. As the organisation has grown, Josh

has remained focused on ensuring that quality, consistency, communication and genuine connection

remain at the centre of the support JH provides.

Josh believes that good support should be practical, personal and shaped around the individual. For some

participants, this means building confidence, independence, social skills or employment-related goals. For

others, it means having reliable support with daily life, routines, community access, companionship or

meaningful activities.

A key part of Josh’s leadership is building strong support frameworks around participants and families. This

includes thoughtful intake, risk planning, support plans, mentor matching, Team Leader involvement, staff

communication, check-ins and ongoing review. This approach helps ensure that support is not only warm

and relationship-based, but also structured, safe and well considered.

Josh is also passionate about building a skilled, values-aligned team. He believes the right mentor match

can make a significant difference, and that great support happens when staff understand the person, their

goals, their needs and the way they like to be supported.

Outside of JH Mentoring, Josh values family, personal growth, fitness and staying connected to the

community — values that continue to shape the way he leads and the standards he sets across the

organisation.

"Support does not start with a roster, it starts with understanding the person."

Our Mentors

More than a Mentor - Thoughtful Mentor Matching

Our mentors bring a wide range of skills, interests and life experience. Across the JH Mentoring team, this may include experience or interesting in fitness, nutrition, gardening, hospitality, cooking, finance, budgeting, music, art, sport, surfing, dance, administration, support coordination, business development, event management, education support, Aboriginal supports, science, car detailing and more.

When matching participants with mentors, we consider goals, personality, support needs, communication style, interests, risk considerations and staff strength. This helps us create support relationships that feel more natural, engaging and purposeful.

Where appropriate, we can share staff profiles with participants and families to support the matching process. Meet and greet sessions and regular check-ins help ensure the match is working well.
