What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government-funded program that provides support to Australians with permanent and significant disability.

It gives people more choice and control over the services they receive to live more independently and achieve their goals.

And we at JH Mentoring are a registered NDIS provider.

Who can access the NDIS?

To access the NDIS, you must:

  • Be under the age of 65

  • Be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency in Australia

  • Have a permanent or significant disability

  • Live in an area where the NDIS is available (now nationwide)

How do I access the NDIS?

  1. Check your eligibility

  2. Submit an Access Request (through the NDIS directly or via a Local Area Coordinator)

  3. Meet with your NDIS planner to discuss your goals and support needs

  4. Receive your NDIS plan and start choosing your providers

What can the NDIS fund?

NDIS plans may include funding for:

  • Community participation and social inclusion

  • Life skills development

  • In-home support

  • Therapy or allied health

  • Transport to access services
  • Supported independent living (SIL)
  • Respite and short-term accomodation
